BenQ MS517 - 3D for beginners
The BenQ MS517 is an inexpensive entry level projector that is 3D ready.
Its versatility is the BenQ MS517 projector's greatest virtue. Among all the BenQ projectors UK customers will find this one a particularly practical choice for beginners. Within its segment it has the added advantage of supporting the direct display of 3D material from a 3D Blu-ray player. There is no need for 3D adapter. You can simply connect your BenQ MS517 to your Blu-ray player via HDMI and enjoy a home cinema evening in 3D . Therefore this projector is ideal for consumers who would like to get accustomed to 3D technology before choosing a more costly high-end 3D projector. In order to enjoy the 3D images you need DLP 3D shutter glasses which are available from BenQ and other manufacturers.
Another interesting feature of the BenQ MS517 is its Smart Eco function. When it is activated it adapts the projector's light output to the actual lighting situation; this can save you real money, especially in very dark rooms. It's good for the environment and for your purse.
The DLP projector works with a resolution of 800 x 600 pixels in a format of 4:3. The brightness level of 2800 lumens is good and comes in particularly useful when watching 3D material, because the images will be very clear. The contrast ratio of 13000:1 results in good brightness and black levels, as the BenQ projector review explains.
The variety of connectivity options is advantageous as well. Apart from digital HDMI there two VGA inputs and also one VGA output for looping through the signal. If you have older devices that you would like to connect you can choose from S-Video and composite video inputs. Monitoring and controlling can be performed via RS232 and the USB type B connection allows you to run over the pages of your presentation, if you attach the USB cable next to the VGA or the HDMI cable. The built-in 2W speaker can be connected via 3.5mm audio jack input and the respective output allows you to loop through the signal.
Further interesting features are the Freeze function which allows you to "freeze" your movie in a chosen moment, a wall colour correction that automatically adapts to different wall colours/ backgrounds and provides closed caption (cc) support.
The accessories of the BenQ MS517 include CD manual, quick start guide, remote control including batteries, power cable, VGA cable and warranty card.
All in all the BenQ MS517 is a perfect projector for beginners with the 3D function. The BenQ MS517 price can only be described as value for money.
